One of our favorite homes to come back to is this beautiful 3-story in Marietta. Moving through different spaces of the home over the years has been a delight as we showcase this family’s glamorous, bold design style. This time around, we had the pleasure of creating and building out a fun and inviting basement hang-out suitable for both kids and adults to relax, entertain, and recharge.
As you enter the space, you’re greeted by an elegant entryway hiding the not so elegant pool games. The large mirror allows natural light from the nearby windows to reflect in and open up the once dull transitory space. Behind the mirror, a Maya Romanoff wood veneer wallpaper adds texture and introduces the warm wood tone that will continue throughout the basement millwork.
The bar and kitchen area really serves as the heart and focal point of this stylish downstairs retreat. The homeowners wanted a space to enjoy football games, entertain guests, and accommodate the little ones as well. Working cohesively with the moody wood plank floors, the dark charcoal color and caramel oak tones add a striking contrast against the grey and white marbled quartz along the back wall and waterfall island counter. The asymmetrical island allows plenty of seating for any gathering style.
The custom sliding doors can be opened while entertaining or closed for those more intimate evenings in the lounge area.
Through the sliding doors sits a bold blue velvet sectional with fun throw pillows making this room perfect for those weekend movie nights with friends. A beautiful custom walnut media unit provides the perfect amount of additional storage to the space.
On the other end of the basement, we created the perfect entertaining space to “wait for your turn”, with two custom made storage benches sitting across from a pingpong table.
Made complete with an equally stylish bathroom, custom cabinetry, bold design elements, and even the piano—a family heirloom, this basement hangout will be sure to keep guests coming back for more fun.
