When we first walked into this family of four’s Atlanta ranch, we were welcomed with enclosed spaces, dark hallways, and an out-dated kitchen that needed to go. The clients yearned for a large, open-concept kitchen, living, dining space that was fit for their busy on-the-go lives. Bouncing from work, to school, to after-school sports, they needed a bright, functional, updated space that could keep up with their hectic schedules. Walls were torn down, flooring leveled out, cabinetry removed, and it was time to kiss their non functional space goodbye!
Dressed with a vivid, geometric blue tile, the kitchen became the star and focal point of the space. White oak open shelving gives the family a space to display fun accessories and kitchenware, adds a bit of natural warmth to the bold tile + allow us to enjoy more of it. With white, gray and blue shaker cabinets, brass hardware, and horizontally stacked subway tile, a fresh take on a classic scheme is tailor made keeping the space feeling fresh and lively.
A large central island provides concealed appliance storage as well as a creative pantry solution seeing as wall space was limited. The corner mudroom comes equipped with cubbies, hooks, and cabinet storage to keep those everyday items organized in a stylish, practical way. This space also doubles as a breakfast nook, perfect for those quick bites before rushing out the door in the morning.
The clients’ beautiful open living and kitchen space not only provides for all of their needs, but acts as an attention catching centerpiece to their family home. We are thrilled they have been able to incorporate a few of their original and personal pieces to keep their house feeling like home.
