Turning Houses Into Homes
Back in December of last year, Yellow Bungalow was able to make a donation to a non-profit organization called Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta. Through donations, events, and community volunteers, Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta assists over 4,000 people every year by providing furniture and decor for those in need in and around the Atlanta area. With homelessness being such a large problem in our community and so many people struggling to get back onto their feet, quality and comfortable furniture is often a luxury that many have to do without. Something as simple as sofa can really make an impactful difference when moving into a new home. Since turning houses into homes is one of our missions here at YB too, we thought they would be the perfect group to partner with in making this dream a reality for so many of our neighbors.
By providing donated furniture to people in need, Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta is also minimizing the amount of gently-used furniture waste that finds it way to landfills every year. They’ve been able to divert over 1,500 tons of furniture and mattress from landfills and into to homes of families each year. They also strive to hire homeless veterans in the trucking and warehouse business to provide employment opportunities, job training, and much needed support.
We here at YB love what Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta is doing, so we want to continue to support to the important work they are doing right here at home. Just last year, along with the support our amazing clients, Yellow Bungalow was able to contribute to furnishing 3 entire homes for local families in Atlanta. We’re incredibly grateful and looking forward to being a part of even more of the great efforts this organization is working towards in the future.
